The most famous films with Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni

Amazingly beautiful, with sexuality striking over the edge, unique charismatic, generously endowed with acting talent, rarely organic and successful, they caused a storm of emotions with each of their joint appearance on the screens. Apparently, the stars came together so that their acting talents began to shine even brighter only in a joint duet.

Two brilliant names - Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni - became for us, Russians, a symbol of this authentic Italy. A luxurious beauty with a thin waist, rounded hips, breathtaking cheekbones and sensual Mastroianni with such a lash in her eyes that made and makes women freeze with admiration for admiration.

Here's what Sophia Loren told about her meeting with Marcello Mastroianni: “As soon as we met on the set, a spark ran between us. We all felt unity. The same sense of humor, the same rhythm, the same philosophy of life, a bit cynical irony "We made our roles obeying our instinct."

We present the five most significant films featuring favorite actors.

"Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" ("Ieri, oggi, domani")

The 1963 film, shot by the famous Vittorio De Sica, consists of three short stories, all three played by Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni. All three novels show us a completely different pair. In the first short story - these are "people of the people", loud, noisy, poor, in a word, this is Naples. Critics noted that the roles of ordinary Italians Lauren worked out better, and this is no coincidence. The streets of Naples are the artist’s native environment, which she absorbed with her mother’s milk.

The second short story is a story about a rich lady who decided to have an intrigue with a signor of a very modest affluence. Here Lauren is a stupid bourgeois, but nevertheless charming, in the final of the film is carried off into the distance with another potential lover on Ferrari.

And the third short story is the most famous, narrating about a woman of easy virtue. Here, Loren suddenly turns from a kept woman to a sympathetic and modest woman, determining the path of a true seminarian. The striptease scene, beloved by the audience, is still leading in various tops of the sexiest scenes in the history of cinema. By the way, you have the opportunity to see Rome of the 60s, as Sophia Loren lives in an apartment overlooking Piazza Navona.

Italian Marriage (Matrimonio all'italiana)

In 1964, this film was called by the press and critics the best joint project. Of course, it could not be otherwise. The formula was perfectly composed: the genius of the writer and playwright Eduardo De Filippo, multiplied by the talent of Lauren and Mastroianni. The dramatic, universal for women of all nations, the story of love and separation, betrayal and happy family reunion was accepted with a bang. And the big names themselves - Filumena Marturano and Domenico Soriano - became common nouns. No translations or explanations were required. We say Filumena - we mean Sofia, we say Soriano - we mean Mastroianni.

"Sunflowers" (I girasoli)

Probably, in the Soviet Union there was not a single person of middle age who did not watch this film. Loving each other Giovanna and Antonio get married, but the young spouse is soon sent to the Eastern Front. Soon the terrible news comes: Antonio went missing. After many years, Giovanna travels to the Soviet Union to find her husband. And then the story itself begins. Antonio is alive and has a second family. It is very interesting to look at Sophia Loren and Mastroianni against the backdrop of Russian landscapes, and especially next to the no less beautiful Soviet actress Lyudmila Savelyeva, who is familiar to the Western audience by the Oscar-winning role of Natasha Rostova in War and Peace.

"Bravo, doll!" (La Pupa Del Gangster)

The name also translates as "Gangster and the kitty," "Gangster doll." The genre of crime comedy itself, combined with the names of Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni, is already worth it to curiosity and watch the film. Critics, however, have expressed doubts that the story will be able to gather enough viewers.

"Pret-a-Porter"

The infamous Robert Altman film seemed to gather almost all the representatives of show business and celebrity. Woven from many microhistories, the film is interesting, first of all, by the next successful alliance of Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni. The director decided to play with the audience: the heroine Loren again demonstrates a high class and shows a striptease in which the viewer cannot help but recognize the striptease of a prostitute from "Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow".

Evil tongues fumbled about the love affair between the actors, but they themselves strongly denied this.

“There was a community between us that I can’t even compare closely with any of my many partners in the movie,” says Sofia Loren (with emphasis on the first syllable, that’s how her name is pronounced in Italy). And this community gave rise to masterpieces that are not afraid of either time or ever-changing fashion.

Berlin State Opera

We must pay tribute to the German technical genius at the Berlin Opera. There are few such “moving” and creative decorations in any theater. It seems that you are not watching a performance, but something very lively and moving. Change of scenery captures no less than the action itself. Actors now and then “go out” now on the ramp, then from the balcony.
