Roman taxi driver "gave gas" with bags of passengers

A taxi driver in Rome delivered a guest from Germany with his daughter from Fiumicino airport, taking 100 euros for this, and then completely robbed the women.

A Roman taxi driver requested 100 euros for two passengers from a passenger, and then disappeared with their bags in an unknown direction. According to the Italian portal ilmessaggero.it, a tourist from Germany and her 20-year-old daughter arrived in Italy at the Roman airport Fiumicino, from where they decided to get to the hotel by taxi. The entrepreneurial driver initially requested 60 euros for a trip from the airport to Via Veneto, despite the fact that, according to current tariffs, the fare would be 48 euros. Upon arrival at the destination, the taxi driver suddenly remembered that his passengers forgot to pay for their luggage, refusing to give them change from a banknote of 100 euros.

But on this unpleasant note did not end all the troubles of tourists from Germany. Having finally paid the taxi driver, the women went to the trunk to get their suitcases, as the taxi driver suddenly pressed the gas pedal and, having passed the red light, disappeared with the luggage of the passengers.

According to the victims, the contents of their bags can be estimated at 10 thousand euros, with half of the total amount being expensive watches worth 5 thousand euros.

It is noteworthy that the theft was not recorded on the hotel’s video cameras, on the steps of which an unpleasant incident occurred, so the identity of the thief could hardly have been established. Nevertheless, the offender still got into the lenses of the cameras of the Fiumicino airport, which allowed law enforcement officers to find and detain the taxi driver. It turned out to be a 44-year-old resident of Italy, living in the vicinity of the Eternal City. The thief immediately admitted to the theft committed by him, and also handed the stolen bag to her rightful housewives. In the near future he will be presented with charges, as well as a fine for extorting money from passengers.

Honest taxi driver

It is worth noting that in Rome you can meet surprisingly honest and noble taxi drivers. It was with this that the tourist from Russia, who arrived in the capital of Italy in March, was lucky. A 31-year-old woman panicked at the nearest police station when she realized that she had forgotten in a taxi a bag containing 17 thousand euros and 50 thousand Russian rubles. A guest from Russia did not remember either the number or make of the car, but she knew very well that the taxi brought her from Piazza Risorgimento Square, which is located near the Vatican, to the Roman Piazza del Popolo square. However, this information was enough to find a taxi on which a woman was riding. The driver confirmed that he had found the bag in the interior of his car, and gladly returned it to the owner.

Renzo Ubaldi, 61, who turned out to be that noble driver, said that he found a black bag in the back seat of his taxi after he landed a couple of Russian tourists near Piazza del Popolo. “I turned around to check if there was anything left, I always do,” Renzo explains. “Fortunately, I found the bag earlier than the new passenger. I opened it and saw a lot of money. I returned to the place where I dropped off the tourists, but they weren’t there anymore. I had no idea what to do with my find, "I urgently contacted the dispatcher and explained the whole situation. When the woman received her lost bag, she hugged me and burst into tears, relieved to find that all the money was in place."

Once again, we are in a hurry to sincerely recommend that you eliminate all kinds of troubles with Roman taxi drivers by ordering a transfer on ru.rome4.us from a friend of our editorial office, Sergio. For a fixed amount of 50 euros you will be met at the airport and taken to the hotel without additional charges and surprises.

Italian signs and superstitions

It would seem what superstitions and signs can be discussed in a country where perhaps the most convinced Catholics in the world live. But despite the full force of their faith, Italians still can’t pass by a black cat without panic, or not look at a fortuneteller to find out the future. The fact that the inhabitants of beautiful Italy are hostages of superstition is also proved by numerous studies of sociologists.
